VOmax Product Engineering Group

The VOmax Product Engineering group continues to lead the industry in the use and adoption of technical fabrics and construction. We were one of the first companies in North America to commercialize the use of Lycra as a base short material. We are always evaluating and testing the latest innovations from the suppliers in the industry. VOmax has relationships with all major textile producers in the world allowing the company to source best-in-class fabrics for each garment application.

The fit and functional characteristics of VOmax's garments have been honed over the course of 20+ years. The VOmax line of custom cycling apparel is the broadest in the industry, offering unequalled choice to customers. Sponsored racing clubs provide input for further refinements and subsequently act as beta testers through membership in The VOmax BetaCycle program. This program is open to select teams, clubs and schools.

VOmax offers products for all weather conditions and all seasons. For cool weather riding, the company provides tights, knickers, knee warmers, leg warmers, arm warmers, and a variety of jackets and vests. For warm weather riding the company offers a variety of short and long sleeve jerseys, skinsuits, shorts and bib shorts.

Wicking characteristics, and perhaps more importantly, evaporative cooling characteristics, of each garment vary based on the fabrics used in the garment's construction. There are no meaningful industry-wide scientific measurements for wicking and evaporative cooling characteristics of fabrics. VOmax uses two approaches to test these characteristics when evaluating new fabrics. First, a drop test is performed to measure the speed at which a fabric absorbs a droplet of water placed on it, and a vertical wick test is used to measure the speed at which a fabric will wick moisture from a vessel of water to a vertical height of 12". The second test, and the more definitive of the two, is to test garments and fabrics in actual use conditions - our riders take pride in riding in the worst weather of the year!
